The woman behind the vision is Director Leyla Hyssoli, who has been delivering exclusive, personalised beauty services to her Melbourne clientele since 2011. She offers that special personal touch and a friendly approach, taking the time to understand your needs and the specific outcome you are seeking, to answer your questions and provide reassurance.
It was my absolute pleasure to sit down with Leyla and discuss all things beauty, business, and what is in store for the future.
Congratulations on the opening of Akmē Beauty in South Yarra! You must be so excited! After enormous success in Ivanhoe, what was the inspiration to open a second salon?

It has been an incredible five years at our Ivanhoe location. I felt as though I had accomplished my goals for that store and after many conversations with people and my husband, we felt it was time to expand and challenge ourselves into this next chapter.
The look and feel definitely comes across intentional and with thought, what was the vision behind the concept and how do you hope clients will feel when they walk in?
I wanted to create a space where it felt less “clinical” and more like a home. A space where it feels and looks premium luxury. I wanted clients to be able to walk in and just say “WOW” which I think we have definitely accomplished with our amazing interior designers Biasol. We wanted to keep it minimal with a neutral colour palette but accentuate features by incorporating arches and curves.
Let’s talk about treatments, could you go through the various treatments offered, and what makes them so special?
We offer a variety of treatments, including Brows, Lashes, and Tanning. What makes the salon incredibly unique is the extensive amount of research that has gone into the technology we provide. We use a state-of-the-art Laser Hair Removal machine with treatments being super quick with no downtime. We have also achieved amazing results with our custom face treatments using intense peels and laser rejuvenation.
What is the meaning behind the name Akmē?
The word AKMĒ means the highest point of achievement. Where something is at its best and most highly developed. It is the best or most perfect thing that can exist and be achieved.
Where do you hope to see Akmē in the future?
I would love to see AKMĒ expand further not only with our stores but also expand in what we provide. It has always been my ambition to provide nothing but the BEST. What is most important is for my clients to enjoy every experience in our stores. So hopefully we can even take AKMĒ Beauty international!
