This past Saturday we kicked off the Spring Racing season with Guineas Day as part of The Stella Artois Caulfield Cup Carnival, a day filled with racing, food, fashion, art, and entertainment – where the glamour of New York was transported to the Caulfield Racecourse.
From Central Park references to the famous yellow taxis, and the delicious pastrami sandwiches we’ve heard about in films – the vibe of New York was undeniable. Guineas Day was everything we love about the races and more with the Tommy Collins team leading the way with 2 of the events prime hot spots – The Moet Chandon Lawn and the party of all parties – The Jockey Club.
As you walk through the tiffany blue (it doesn’t get more New York than that) tunnel, you’re led into the exclusive Jokey Club presented by Gordon’s Pink Gin. Guests are immediately welcomed by live music, a DJ and with that first Pink Gin Cocktail in hand – and so the party begins.
The gorgeous space is infused with pink tones and the vibe is electric! Very appropriately for Melbourne weather, the Jockey Club has both inside and outside seating, allowing plenty of space for guests to relax and enjoy the day.
Tommy Collins created a spectacular Brooklyn-inspired menu for the Jockey club that transports tastebuds all the way to the city that never sleeps, as well as satisfying foodies all day long.
For fans of sliders – I have to say this one was next level! Tender, delicious, with a sauce that I am still dreaming about. The menu also includes fuku chicken sandwich, creamed ‘corn’ dog, Waldorf Salad and the famous crinkle cut fries that were the number one item consumed, craved and captured (on Insta) by everyone on the day – trust me they are THAT good!
As you head over to the pink bar – the choices are limitless …
Everything from gin infused cocktails to champagne is on the menu ready for you to toast the day with. For lovers of a spritz – I highly recommend the Pink Gin Spritz, light and refreshing, it’s the perfect cocktail to sip on as you mingle and enjoy the day.
It all happens again this Saturday and if Guineas Day was anything to go by – Caulfield Cup will be a day to remember.
